long overdue but i figured i’d post some highlights. for this trip, i flew frontier airlines and hoped to avoid the nightmare i experienced on northwest airlines the last time i flew out to the midwest. frontier was actually really nice and i flew from sjc to denver, had a relatively short layover, and then flew from denver to milwaukee. their planes all offer directv on these little screens in the headrest for $5, not a bad deal. i slept most of the way out there and plan to use frontier more in the future. unfortunately my flights were pretty empty, so who know how long they will stay in business.
on friday, katie and i did some holiday shopping, picking up presents for her sisters. we also went and watched syriana that night since i have been anticipating that movie ever since i saw the first preview several weeks ago. overall, i thought the movie was pretty incredible. i think it could have gone through another round of editing to clear up some ambiguity in the lawyer’s side story, but the message was put across well. apparently the movie is based on a book, see no evil by robert baer, so i might check that out sometime, although the amazon reviews don’t put the book in a favorable light.
since some of you still plan to watch syriana, i won’t post any spoilers here yet, but i’ll do a more thorough review later.
don’t remember much from saturday, so it was probably pretty chill. i did spend several hours working on stuff for school. at night, i watched the bucks play the cavaliers. when i was in seattle the previous weekend, ben, zub and i were supposed to watch the sonics play the cavaliers but those plans fell through. it worked out that i eventually got to see lebron play live and wow, he is definitely all that on the court. he dropped 52 that night! and the most amazing part of it all was that it seemed effortless and unforced. the bucks still pulled off a victory and bogut’s play looks pretty promising. for the top draft pick, his numbers are a bit disappointing, but the offensive load is relatively well distributed through the team so they don’t seem to be running a lot of plays through him. this should work to his advantage so he can learn about playing under pressure and playing to win as opposed to focusing on carrying his team.
sunday i did some work for school, relaxed a bit and then took off for san jose. pretty uneventful except for some drama that took place when i was in denver for the connecting flight to san jose. our flight crew was delayed from another flight and some belligerant woman had to be kicked off our plane. when the flight crew was trying to get rid of her, she was yelling at them, “i have to get home tonight, otherwise i won’t make it to my job tomorrow. they’ll fire me and then i’ll lose my kids!” pretty sad, but still she got herself into that position by harassing other passengers. she should have just kept her mouth shut and waited for the plane to take off.
that was about it for milwaukee. i had a great time out there and it was nice to see katie and her family. there was some good news to go around so everyone’s spirits were improved.

it’s all about midwest! two across seating, leather seats, insanely friendly flight attendants, and chocolate chip cookies baked on-board. it’s pretty cheap if you buy far enough in advance. i think they fly from SFO to MKE via kansas city.
