well i would have thought that since graduation i would have more time and therefore be posting more often, but that hasn’t been the case. somehow i’ve managed to fill in the time with a variety of activities, including spending more time with katie and my friends. i’ll go into more detail in further posts, but the most draining activity lately has been job hunting. in the past month or month and a half, i’ve interviewed with 5 companies. 1 of the 5 has since put a hiring freeze in place and has dropped out of the running. (i had heard enough bad news about their lab in the past couple years to scare me away anyway) interviews with the remaining 4 went well and i’ve managed to secure impending offers from all of them. it’s been stressful since they are all at various stages (intent to offer, verbal, paper, etc) and i just want them all in this week so i can evaluate them side by side. i don’t think it’s a good idea for me to sit on one or more offers a lot longer than others… just seems like it’s not fair to the companies and it would be even more stressful for me.
they each have their pros and cons and it’s going to be a tough decision, but i’m looking forward to moving on from my current employer. i’ve grown tired of the bureaucracy though i have enjoyed the diversity of opportunities afforded to me. that will be one thing i’ll miss, given the various projects i’ve had the benefit of working on.
