no, i didn’t go hit the craps table but i did do a little bit of shopping today. ok, i lie, i spent about 6 hours shopping today. and no, i didn’t like it but i didn’t have much of a choice in the matter. i needed to look at some watches and i needed a new pair of shoes that were comfortable for all the walking i’m doing these days. combine this (which might have actually taken about an hour or two) with the fact that katie had a job fair to attend in the city and you have the makings for a full day spent around union square and the san francisco shopping center.

i dropped off katie around 9am and headed over to the parking garage across from the metreon. after grabbing a yogurt parfait from the peet’s coffee in the shopping center, i headed over to tourneau where i proceeded to try on watches for the better part of an hour. it’s a long running story that will hopefully have some resolution soon and i’ll post it when it’s all over with pics. after tourneau i just walked around the 5 floors of the san francisco shopping center and ended up in the shoe department at nordstrom’s. i knew i wanted to pick up a pair of ecco’s soon given the glowing reviews my friends have of them and my need of comfortable walking shoes, so i decided to try some on. i went through 3 pairs of eccos and a pair of mephistos before finally deciding on a size. ecco only uses euro sizing, so my standard “can i try this in 11 and 11 1/2″ tack didn’t work. i measured a 45 on the euro scale and that size worked out well. i ended up passing on making a final decision since i had looked up an actual ecco store by union square that i planned to visit since they had the entire line of shoes there.

i headed out in the rain to find this supposed ecco retail store. i walked and walked for many blocks, stopping at shreve, Shapur Mozafferian and macy’s to check out more watches. i never found the retail ecco store in spite of walking right by its supposed address @ 426 post st. didn’t matter tho as i stepped into ria shoes @ grant ave and found my shoes there on sale! i nabbed a pair along with some waterproofing spray. they are as pictured at the top of this post. i love them, i think they are the best fitting shoes i’ve owned to date.
