b2b - back to blogging - and testing the maturity of online seamless integration

April 16th, 2008 · No Comments

so i’ve taken some time off from my typical blogging habits (a few times a month) but i should be back at it now. i’ve spent some time lately working on upgrading my site to the latest version of wordpress, pulling in updated plugins and working on seamless integration between my blog, twitter and my facebook profile. the following should hopefully occur when i post here:

  • twitter update on my stream
  • post to wordbook plugin on my facebook profile
  • facebook status updated as a result of twitter update

this is a bit of an experiment on my part to see the maturity of various platform APIs to support this type of integration. if it coincidentally increases readership of my blog, i won’t complain. i will continue to maintain some degree of anonymity as far as information available on this blog about me, but friends/contacts clicking through from facebook/linkedin/twitter will clearly know who they are reading about. i will be experimenting with apture and flowgram and posting some thoughts about these here over the next couple of weeks. they are startups that offer methods for sharing and annotating information over the web.

i’ve had a few things going on in life. katie and i have been working on getting wedding plans together, including getting most (but not all) of our save the date cards out to guests. things have been slow at work but i’m working on an interesting project that’s very bleeding edge in terms of technology on a handset. i’ve also been tracking a standards body for a project i’ve kicked off at work and this has taken me to a few destinations around the world. in the past few months i’ve been fortunate to travel to vancouver, london, beijing and paris where i’m composing this post right now. in the past 5-6 months i’ve actually had a bit of travel in addition to this with trips to hawaii, vegas, chicago and seattle. i’m looking forward to this settling down over the next couple of months, likely with just trips to seattle and chicago sprinkled in every few months.

the travel has been good as i haven’t done much travel around the world, but i’m fatiguing of being on the go every couple of weeks. there are many things that need to get done at home that i feel are being neglected. for example, i typically file my taxes in february, but this year it got pushed back to april. the travel schedule has also interfered with my health habits, so i end up eating irregularly and eating worse food in addition to not having the time or energy for gym visits. i have become better at dealing with 12-16 hours of travel at a time, typically carrying some reading material, a dvd or two, and headphones with my ipod.

something’s brewing in the pot…. i will be able to elaborate on this later =)

that’s all for now!
